How well is your explainer video performing?
Most video hosting sites, including youtube, tell you how many views your video has – This includes embeds!
→ Check out the video to see how to find the stats on youtube studio.
Once you’ve got the number of views on your page for a specific period you can compare and check video views with page views.
This can help tell you what percentage of people are clicking play on your video. (the first step to getting results!)
If it’s lower than you’d like, it’s not a problem with the video itself but rather how it’s presented on the page.
A few things I do to try and improve it:
→ Make sure the text on the play button is compelling.
→ Make sure the thumbnail is enticing.
→ Make something move – be this an animated thumbnail or by adding motion to the play button.
If you’re interested in how the video itself is performing, you can explore the watch duration metric – I’m sure I’ll do a more detailed post on this soon!
